Which classes are performing the best so far in the WoW War Within Season 1? We'll showcase the most popular class/spec choices right now during the early few weeks of the TWW PVP content, in case you're looking to level a brand new character during the WoW's 20th anniversary, which is going to offer a solid experience increase.
Tanks
The most popular tank right now among all key levels is the Blood Death Knight, a solid tank with frequent available defensive cooldowns, very fun gameplay, and a decent output of damage that requires very little setup. Blood Death Knights also have a fantastic control kit, maybe one of the best, with an AoE blind, soft interrupts with grips, as well as normal kicks, stuns, and plenty of slows.
At higher difficulties (+12 and above), the two tanks performing the best are the Bear Druid and the Protection Warrior. Bear Druids are arguably one of the easier tanks to pick up, with a fantastic mix of group utility and decent damage. Protection Warriors are built around mitigating and reducing damage intake, making them highly effective at high-end dungeons, although they require more knowledge to deal with certain encounters.
Healers
One of the easiest healing specs to get into for this season is the Restoration Shaman, which synergizes well with melee-specific groups and brings a lot of utility and raid buffs. Resto Shamans have ways to stop enemies in AoE content, interrupts, and totems to deal with various situations.
The other notable healer is the Preservation Evoker, arguably one of the hardest healers to pick up but with excellent numbers, a great array of group cooldowns, and plenty of utility. However, they have range and position requirements, making them a bit harder to play effectively.
DPS Classes
For ranged DPS, one of the more popular options is the Arcane Mage, which has fantastic focus damage and the ability to eliminate large, dangerous targets within seconds, making certain dungeons much easier.
Another highly accessible and powerful ranged option is the Augmentation Evoker, which focuses on buffing the party instead of doing damage themselves. They have the flexibility to be paired with melee-heavy groups and provide support-based gameplay.
For melee DPS, the Frost Death Knight stands out with great priority damage, free cleave, and a fantastic array of defensive options and crowd control. They're numerically significant and well-built for high-end content.
The other top melee DPS is the Enhancement Shaman, which has significant damage tuning and holds some of the best damage from a melee counterpart for both AoE and single-target situations, although it has a high skill cap to play perfectly.
Remember, just because a class or spec isn't featured here doesn't mean it's doing poorly. Tuning isn't final, and some classes really open up with more gear. Additionally, you don't necessarily need to play any of these classes to get your +10 keystones or progress in Mythic+, as every spec is built to accomplish those goals. However, certain playstyles are seeing a lot of popularity early on, which is what this video primarily highlighted.
